I came up with this quote today while chatting with a friend. I felt it was so good that I had to share it.
"I think the whole point behind everything is that it musn't make sense otherwise more things would."

Strange Cats
I have 2 cats Panda and Bastet. I have had Panda for almost 2 years now, but Bastet is a recent addition of about 2 months now. Panda was pretty playful and rather sweet until Bastet s came along. Bastet being a kitten wanted to play with Panda, and Panda couldn't stand her. This has been going on since I got Bastet, until today.
Today I bought a laser pointer to use as a cat toy, and as predicted both cats went nuts over it. Bastet being the younger was leaping up the walls after it, and Panda was even chasing it rather energetically (which is odd since she has been lethargic since I got the kitten). Anyway after about 15 minutes of running them around the apartment chasing the little red dot, that they can't figure out how to actually catch and eat, I put the laser pointer up. Keep in mind that while they were playing Panda would still growl and bat at Bastet if she got to close. After putting it up Panda promptly went over to Bastet and glomped her and started licking her. I have no idea what it was about the laser pointer that caused this, but they have played together with toy mice and such before and I have never seen this happen. Now they seem to be friends. In fact while writing this I have both of them trying to sit on my laptop, which never happens since Panda doesn't like being within a couple of feet of Bastet.
In conclusion, if you have pets that don't get along buy a laser pointer.

Quest for pics and random late night ramblings
I know that this is going to sound strange (especially coming from me), and I know that there are only a few people that read this. But I am looking for pictures of me and my social circle. Pics from parties, game nights, random snap shots, weddings, whatever so long as it is digital format. I realized today that I have almost no pictures of any of my friends, and for some reason this actually affected me today. I am also in search of any half decent pictures of myself (yes I know that this is rare, and no I will not pose for one, unless to drunk to realize a camera is pointed at me).
Anyway so today I was a couch potato and sat around and watched TV all day and read various technical manuals related to work stuff. It was semi-entertaining, highly educational, and over all boring. Anyone want to do something tomorrow? The lack of social interaction today (other than with my cats) has made me realize that I should have gotten up off the couch and went out for a bit.
Alias is on right now, well now it isn't. I thought it was canceled a while back. To bad I didn't keep up with it. It looked like a good show and the lead actress is fine. What the hell is this commercial? Some sort of health awareness crap about eye health with people walking around with weather veins on their head having their eyes electrocuted. WTF? Late night TV is kind of messed up. Maybe one day I could have a job writing stuff for late night TV. I would have really cool stuff on like the monkey toaster Olympics and bowling for platypuses. Because everyone loves our aquatic duck/beaver mutant friend the platypus. Anyway time for me to read a bit more and then go crash out.

OMG Forever and the Evil Data Center Monkey
So as part of my day I decided to reformat one of our semi-large storage systems so that I can use it as temporary storage for consolidating one of my tape libraries. Don't even ask why I am having to do all of this that is for another post or three. So anyway I wait for about 8 forevers for this data storage device to format. (Read the linked post on another blog I frequent for details on my time wasters) After getting done with this it turns out that the server will only partially recognize the device unless I reboot the server. So I have scheduled a maintenance window for tomorrow to get that done. I will post anything interesting that happens about that tomorrow.
So when I got to work today I have an interesting voice mail regarding one of my tape libraries. Apparently sometime during the weekend it got turned off. Don't ask me how, but the power switch was set to off. So I go by and talk to the person that left the voice mail, and he semi-accuses me of messing around in the data center and breaking things, but I haven't been in that data center since Thursday of last week, and he said that the library was fine on Friday. So my theory is evil data center monkeys. They come out from under the floor paneling at night, throw huge parties, get drunk, and high on computer dust. Then they proceed to mess up my network wiring and equipment just enough to make it tough to fix. So I am going to go in there with a large bat next week and chace them all out and change the door combination.

Yet another incarnation of my brain
Yes, here it is the latest incarnation of my brain. Most likely like all of the other incarnations it will not get updated regularly, and it will end up with cobwebs all over the place and then eventually float off into electronic limbo. Well here goes, my first post on yet another new blog (because I always have to post at least once about how infrequently I will post). Anyway, if things begin showing up on this site, be happy and read them they are here for your amusement. But don't be disappointed if nothing shows up, because that is the far more likely scenario.
